Start by reading through the script until you completely understand the plot.

Read the line twice. Cover it and say it twice. Read it once more to check if you got it right. Go through a scene like this a few times and move on to the next scene.

Repeat the previous tip, but with the blocking as well.

After you have practiced several time so you know what you need work on, write down all the scenes you have lines in. Mark the ones that give you the most problems and practice them extra.

Write down your lines in the scene, in order, including blocking and cues, from memory. Check if you're right.

Give your script to a friend. Have your friend read the other character's lines and prompt you if you need it.

Cramming to learn your lines won't help you to remeber them through the entire run of the show. Practice at least 15 minutes in the morning and 15 minutes at night every day you can, and more if you have a major part.

One of the most important things to help you remember your lines is to stay in character! If you know who your character is and what they are doing, you should have almost no trouble remebering your lines--and if you get stuck, if you're in character it's not too hard to ad lib something pretty close.

I'm taking acting (not by choice!) and this is what we were advised.....

1. Write it out, over and over, slowly doing more and more from memory. Section it out by the "breaks" (change in emotions) of your dialogue. Once one section is memorized, move on to the next.

2. Tape it and replay it over and over while driving, etc. You'll get to where you can rehearse right along with it.

They really do work. I had trouble at first, but then it all of a sudden "clicked" and I knew the whole thing. Good luck!

I have no clue.............sorry. But you could do what I did when I was little, write down your lines because once you write them down 3 times they just come naturally in your mind. After you write them down, say them 3 times and keep practicing before your play, you'll easily nail it. Also I think Zak Strass and Annee Moon's strategy is excellent. That is a great way to memorize your lines. Good luck and tell me how you do when you have time.

Try repeating the small lines in your head until they are stuck in there, then memorize the queues. For the longer ones, say the first line, then the first and second, then the first, second and third, then first, second, third and fourth, and so on. I do this and I am able to memorize everything; I was Dimitrius in A Midsummer Night's Dream...

Start from the beginning and try to remember one line first. say it over and over until you can say it without looking. then go to the next line. do the same as the first then when you get it go back to the beginning and say those 2 lines together without looking continuing doing for each line. if the lines are long, breack them up into small sections (i.e. " he who has come to my bed and asks my forgiveness, shall not receive for he is a betrayer or of hope, of love of happiness of everything".....star with: he who has com to my bed......memorize that then and asks for my forgiveness....memorize that and start over: he who has come to my bed and asks for my forgiveness.) I hope this helps. good luck.

Keep on practicing and you'll finally get it. You're probably just nervous.
