You don't say whether your child is a boy or a girl... or if the invitees are the same gender or mixed.
My daughter had a sleep over with a twist when she turned 12... She invited 5 girls but my wife rented a one bedroom hotel suite... My wife retreated to the bedroom and the girls took over the living room area... They ordered delivery pizza, rented in-house movies, bought an Ice Cream Cake and used the hotel pool. Believe me they didn't need any more... The beauty in all this is that the hotel did the clean up!
Another idea (if it is a mixed gendered group) is to have the party at one on those paint your own pottery places.

Ok this is really cool cause I just turned 12 in August. What I did is have a bowling party. After the party we went to my house and play; about 5 people came over to play and spend the night.

Parties that we have gone to or had are; Ice skating, bowling, and the one I did was I went to a close hotel and rented out their pool and had a Luau Party. We bought the girls, skirts, and flower for their hair. It was a lot of fun!! A party my daughter went to was a "Spa" party. They did facials, painted fingers and toes. For a party favor she bought towels at Wal-mart and had someone she knows embroidered their names on the towel! They did it all in her home. The mom just asked friends/moms to help with the stations. I hope this helps. GOOD LUCK!!

Have you asked the birthday kid? And how much are you willing to spend? I would look at the kids interest, Do they need to have an agenda to have a party? I personally always liked Pin the tail on the Shrek's Donkey, spoon and ping pong races, and tackle football in the mud. Its their day get their input.

I would do something fun, something that lets the kids get their energy out. Maybe a bowling party, or laser tag? Laser tag is always good for kids!

Have a summer season camp-out on your backgarden, do a BBQ and make a campfire to roast marshmallows and marshmallows and biscuits (choc-digestive biscuits, chocolate dealing with center, positioned marshmallows in the midsection. put in tinfoil and positioned close to fireside. Wait a jointly as so as that the biscuit is heat. the chocolate could have long gone everywhere in the marshmallows!). additionally camp over in tents in the night.
