I am a huge supporter of animal rights. I do almost all my high school projects on animal rights. The answer why is too long to state.. and it's obvious that the people who support it care for animals. The people who don't are the opposite.

Yes. Animals in nature only follow one law and that is nature's law. There is nothing good or bad in nature it's just a balance. There is nothing inhumane about nature either. Animals could not even make up the kinds of torture that human's come up with. Human's of course are at the top of the food chain. We do not follow the balance that applies within nature's law. We have our own laws, laws that no animal could abide by since it is only laws that a human could understand. However animals are forced to be under our law because human's have deemed it so. Animals can not stand up for themselves and defend the unjust law's that are put upon them. They cannot stop the cruel torture that happens in fur trade, medical experiments, product testing, slaughter houses, and any place or anyone who put animals through pains we cannot even imagine. Their few rights also grant them one sided punishments with blame solely put on the animals. If a human kills an animal in the most hideous cruel manner nothing happens. If it is an animal that has more rights such as a pet then a person might get a slap on the hand. However if an animal kills out of fear, protection, or just out of instinct that animal faces instant death.
If we are going to force animals to be under our law we must respect theirs. We must give these innocent animals right to protect from unjust suffering. We may be at the top of the food chain but that gives us no right to treat animals the way we do.

Yes. They should have the same basic rights as human beings. They should be allowed to live same as us, and have access to quality health care. And to be loved and treated with respect. Too many people want pets, but only when it's convenient for them. Pets are a 24 hour, 7 days a week job, just like raising children. Just because they become too much of a burden they have them put to sleep or given away. Thank gods that Kansas now has a law making animal abuse a felony.

Animals difinitely should have legal rights. When you know animals well you realize that they are much the same as human beings. They think, feel, mourn, lose their temper (not as bad as we do). Sadly some people are so barbaric we need laws to protect innocent animals that cannot protect themselves.

they do, to a certain extent. they are protected from cruelty by laws of the land. should any human torture or maime or kill an animal inhumanely (in other words, while causing great pain), that person is subject to punishment. after that extent, i don't know what else you'd want.

Of course they should. Just like young children, animals, of all types, can very easily fall prey to exploitation and abuse. Furthermore, as we go about our daily lives protecting ourselves, our children, personal property, etc, why not protect them as well?

Yes they already do to an extent. They have the right to be fed and kept healthy and not abused.
