The numbers in front were exponents, + was times, and - was divide before the logs were split up. 1/2 as an exponent means square root. So this is rewritten as ln( (sqrt x)y^3/z^4)

ln {x^(1/2)} + ln {y^3} - ln {z^4} =

ln { x^(1/2) * y^3 / z^4 }
