I know you pronounce short a sound like "au"

Sorry, but there is no such thing as a British accent! Even 2 cities which are very close together, like Manchester and Liverpool or Edinburgh and Glasgow have completely different accents. It makes us very linguistically diverse, but I can understand why it's confusing.
Try listening to British people on TV to get an idea of their regional accent. A really good Scottish accent to copy is Shrek. Mike Myers is actually Canadian, but his accent is spot on!

if you're talking about RP (Received Pronounciation - as used in BBC newscaster voices) then it's a case of taking out any regional accent, softening any hard 'r' sounds, etc. Watch a lot of BBC News (or My Fair Lady) and you'll be close. Please don't try for a cockney accent unless you want to sound like Dick Van Dyke.
