The wolves have not had a succesful litter of pups in a long time .

The wolves have a small precious litter .

They will fight and die to protect that litter

A single Alpha Lion appears and he is hungry .The king of the jungle will not be denied .

The wolves will win or die. No matter how "Alpha" or powerful the will to protect our children lives strong. The king of the jungle will go hungry tonight.

To tell you the truth, the lion doesn't stand a chance theoretically against wolves, only for the fact of how they hunt. They will chase down prey, but not attack until the time is right. They will chase an animal in circles to exhaustion, and when that animal drops, that's when they come in for the kill. In the lion's case, the lion is more likely to stand it's ground, rather than run. The wolves would have to poke at it until it finally gives in, which shouldn't take long, since even a hyena can get the better of a lion. The wolves are also team players, and will take turns wearing down their prey, they are also good at communicating with each other in order to coordinate an attack, it's not uncommon for a wolf to blind-side it's prey.
Hence the reason why the lion would be screwed against even as little as three wolves.(Not alpha wolves either)
