Burning the American flag is an act of free speech. People support free speech, it's in our Bill of Rights. The Confederate flag is known to represent legal slavery, something that is morally outrageous.

i am a liberal I do not support burning the flag and I live in Tennessee and the Confederate flag isn't something I even think about. i have heard that it is offensive to some African Americans due to the era it represents but...I never even think about it... Here in Tennessee the Rebel or Confederate Flag is usually associated with "RED Necks". People that are simple and say things like "The south will Rise again" and "Hell no , I aint Frogettin' "...People that embrace their southern heritage I guess...
What liberals are for is freedom of speech...I want pat robertson to have it and Cindy Sheehan... I want it for every body not for just the people who agree with my political beliefs..

Take a course in logic. The two things are not related.
On a different tack, liberals do not support burning the flag.
You are confusing their stand on supporting free speach which the Supreme Court has ruled includeds burning the US flag.
I personally have always been able to convey my ideas without burning any flags, US or Confederate or others.

Liberals do not support burning the American flag, they support peoples right to do it. The American flag stands for the rights of a free people which include free speech and protests of all kinds. Burning the flag is a political protest, and the flag stands for the right to burn the flag. I know this is a difficult concept to get your mind aroung, but try to stretch it that far. By the way I don't despise the confederate flag either. Just the racist idiots who use that flag as a symbol of the right to oppress others.

Liberals do not support burning the flag and i sure do not, but we do believe in free speech and burning the flag is a form of free speech along with showing the confederate flag. Even though i, a liberal democrat, despise both actions i tolerate them because i, unlike my Conservative counterparts, love free speech and the constitution.

I am a Southern liberal. I totally support freedom of speech and expression for all people. I like the rebel flag, I care nothing for what racist people and groups have used it for, they have also the American flag. I will fly my rebel flag with pride, beside my rainbow flag.

More and more, they seem to represent the same thing.
I realize that you have an agenda, but is there some sort of contradiction that you allege in these two claims that you make about "liberals"?
Even if we stipulate to what you're implying -- which is that liberals despise the U.S. flag, and therefore "support burning" it -- why would it then seem odd that they also despised another flag?
Sheez.

They think that these thoughts will help them with the vote from anti America people and the people that believe the Confederate flag is associated with slavery and the KKK. Neither are true. Stupid uniformed voters. The Libs and the Dems want everybody to vote because the more that vote the more that do not have a single idea why or who they are voting for. If you do not know the issues, do not vote. One uniformed vote will cancel out one informed vote. I think we need a criteria to be able to vote.

It doesn't mean that they support flag burning. It is sad but true that if our country disallows flag-burning it can be viewed as limiting freedom of speech. Democrats/liberals are just so moral that it seems awkward at times.
