we have municipal elections, then we have provincial or state elections, then we have federal elections. Would it not be simpler and less costly to hold elections for all of these offices on one particular day every 4 years, putting that day on the official calendar as Election Day, make it a holiday so there will not be any excuses to avoid participating in the election process on that day. Not taking part would be libel for loss of pay on that day. what do you think?

To Zack Barre, I don't mean they have to do it on the same day as we do but what is the main problem with elections? Ans. People don't think they are important, but doing all three on one day may change that. Where is your sense of adventure in trying something new ???

There will be problem in choosing the candidate because the voter will be selecting from many names. Further, the counting machine or election people will have a hard time counting and tabulating the many votes for different positions.

If we did that yes it would be more convenient and cost effective but we would have a awful lot of new people in office at a time. But the new holiday thing is a great Idea and if we had it every year and had elections every other year. That might be a good idea although then they would all have six year terms. So we would kind of change that quite a bit. Would schools get out that day to? and wouldn't it only be a country election. (U.S. doesn't officially rule the world)

No. What the Italians or the Thais or the Egyptians do on election day is their business. Different forms of government need different dates for elections. Here in the USA , every 2 years but in a parlementary election, elections can be called by the ruling party any time. So it is not feasable.

r u kidding? think of the madness man! if all elections where on the same day, then all elected terms would most likely be the same length. some elected offices, in my opinion, should have a longer or shorter term than others. but yea i think we should have the first monday, tuesday, possibly even wednesday of november to vote. woot democracy!

No, we don't have any right to tell other nations when to vote. Many other countries have more sense than Americans, and allow voting over a couple of days to ensure people get time to vote.
