They grew up together. There is no "meeting" episode. I don't know where anyone got that idea.

They meet Winry when they are little in Episode 3...Mother. This one is acclaimed to be one of the best Episodes in FMA. Outside of that, it's Episode 8 where Winry visits Edward to congratulate him on passing the Alchemy exam. She makes a few appearances here and there until episode 17 when the boys head back home to Risembool. "The House of the Waiting Family"...if you want to see more of the pull between Winry and Edward, watch the entire series obviously, but add that with the movie...it's pretty deep and engrossing.

I am not compleatly sure, but i am glad i found someone else that loves FMA also. :-)
