use your computer's calculator
let me tell you a trick.
when doing this kind of calculation by your brain, you can follow these steps to get the approximate answer
step 1
divide 38 by a number you think that is closer to the actual root, 6 in this case
38/6=6.33
step 2
find the average between the two numbers
(6+6.3)/2=6.15
step 3
repeat step 1 using the number you got from step 2
38/6.15=6.18
step 4
repeat step 2 with your new numbers
(6.15+6.18)/2=6.165
this trick works very well when you don't do very much roundings. you'll get a more accurate number as you repeat the steps,
