It is normal to be nervous the first time you do anything where you
have to perform before anyone. Also the teacher is judging you, and you know it. But, she,or he has to judge you all the way through to see where you need the most help etc. You are right it is worth it and soon you won't be nervous at all. Just decide that you are going to do this so be nervous if you have to until you adjust. Keep it up, you will be playing very well before long. I hope
you will come back & let us know when you are happy & satisfied
with your performance, ok?

Hey there! I've played the piano since as long as I can remember. If you want to try and get ahead on your lessons just be sure to practice, practice, practice, whatever it is your teacher gives you (even twinkle twinkle) and take it an extra step and try and learn another piece on you own, maybe a little more advanced. This way you could surprise your teacher and it DEFINITELY helps you develop and understand things a little more. Don't go too crazy with Chopin of Joplin at first, lol, but feel free to explore different genres and try them out to get a broad understanding around the piano. Knowing how to read is a great gift, sight reading is very handy. If you learn to utilize and hone in on that craft it will be an advantage, but theres absolutely nothing wrong with playing by ear, things can even get a little more creative that way. Hope this helps, good luck! A piano is a wonderful thing, I hope you enjoy it!

Yes, I was very nervous. In fact I cried. But that was many years ago. I started playing at 11 years old and I still enjoy it 40 years
later. I don't cry anymore. One tip: PRACTICE, and never be afraid to start over again. Good luck to you.
another tip: Patience.
