It's just a writer - calling up different policies and modes of thinking to apply to a selection of time and space. I believe it could be one. That's my answer.

It's just a student. One who has too much time on his hands. One who thinks posting a pseudo-intellectual exposition posing as a question will impress we mere plebians. I believe I am correct. That's my response.

What is it? is what a person thinks when he hears that noise out in the hall at two in the morning in the dark when the castle has been locked down front for the night and all the help has left and gone back to the village and no one will come in the night, in the dark. (Creaky sounds... sweaty palms... impossible to sleep...)
