Well my favorite has to be "The Song Remains the Same" by Led Zeppelin. However, it isn't actually THE soundtrack. It was recorded live at MSG and some of it was used in the movie, but the movie has versions from other nites during the same run of shows. I'll take it. It SAYS it's a soundtrack.
It's my fave because it's the first time I ever heard Zeppelin, and it made me want to play guitar, which I do now. While it was widely panned by critics and fans, it was my first taste of Zeppelin, and I love every minute of that album. When the needle dropped and the first blaring chords of "Rock and Roll" came on, I was hooked. Yes I'm showing my age - that was 1976.
My other is probably "Buffalo 666" which is a really weird movie by Vincent Gallo. Most of the songs aren't so good, but many of them are old Yes and King Crimson songs, and I find that kind of interesting. Gallo does manage to cram a few minutes of "Heart of the Sunrise" by Yes into the (almost) murder scene, and that's a great song.
