My opinion on gay marriage is that, if I were to vote on it, my vote would be that I would legalize it. I am gay. I want equal respect and the same rights as everyone else.

It's really all about what I just said. And it's about the belief that no one chooses to be gay. I didn't choose it. I realized that I am and I accepted what I am.

It is not morally wrong, in and of itself. And it would not be politically wrong, ......

IF

.... it were proactively legalized by the voters or by the legislature(s).

But it is both morally wrong and politically wrong for the courts to legalize it. I am absolutely convinced that the judges in Massachusetts were liars. And a lie is both morally and politically wrong.

Honestly I think the Government should stay out of the American peoples life. Both men and women. It's not there business. I am a southern baptist, i believe the Bible is the word of God. I would never force you to except my faith or my beliefs, never.
that said, 40 million Americans have no basic health Insurance and half that number are women and children. This is wrong. WE spend $498 billion on defense and now have a $9 trillion debt. The Iraq war will cost tax payers $2 trillion. With good jobs gone. What choices do these people have in Health Insurance?
Another consideration is surgery, if they have the money and if they get the ___ cut off are they still men or now women?
How will more laws in the USA stop surgery in another country?

Marriage is only a law. Even if gay couple did not register they are still a couple. Legalized marriage will help to settle certain marital legal issues as alimony/inheritance. Other than that I see no differences between strait marriage and otherwise. To me it is neither moral nor political. It is just as sacred, if you think marriage is a sacred matter. They love each other. In fact it was natural in the animal world. Males just go for a back side if they could not find a female in times of necessity and later evolved and developed homosexuality. Scientists already proved that to think and act gay is in our gene. Until lately, it was morally very suppressed by the society worldwide. So gay fathers passed on the gene to their descendants and we have gays unwilling to publicly admit they are. Then it multiplies. Legalizing it will actually stop the genes being passed on to the next generation since there is no natural birth. Maybe a few hundred years later gay/lesbian are protected species. Who knows.

Readers digest version. What is the difference between homosexual marriage and heterosexual marriage?? Sexual preference. That is the only difference. One group likes same sex partners, the other, opposite sex partners.

If the only difference is sexual preference, then what is to stop the pedophiles, the necrophiliacs and the other perversions, from wanting the same rights??? After all, its only sexual preference that is the difference, right??

Its something to think about and notice, the bible was not quoted or discussed, just a rational discussion on whether or not, its love or the sex. I work with some folks who are gay and they are against same sex marriage, and that amazes me. They are low profile, keep silent and don't make a scene about their sexual preferences. I only found out by accident over a few beers after work one day. Hey, if that's what they want, go for it.

I am all for it. I do not think it is my right to tell two consenting adults they can not be married. It is not morally wrong to love someone and want to marry them.
People are just resistant to change, twenty even ten years ago it was unacceptable to be gay or to be openly gay.
Gay marriage is going to happen probably in the next five to ten years.

I do not understand how one man can find love with another hairy man's ***, but to each their own. Gays of either gender, at least in this country, should be able to do as they feel, as long as they do not harm others. (I'm referring to pedophiles here). Some people think that the word "Marriage" is for man and woman "unions" only. Some people don't care. Why can't gays come up with their own term for living together, and this controversy would be over. Same thing with the controversy over "Men" only clubs. Why do women want to break them up, instead of making their own "Women" only clubs? Sex is a natural act with all species, and there are homosexual as well as heterosexual relations in all species. My best friend's brother is gay, and he is as "normal" as straights. He just prefers partners different than me. I love the muff dive!!!!!

It is not the business of government to be in the business of who and who can not marry. The proposal to amend the constitution to define marriage was to please the religious right.
More and more countries are adopting the right of gays to marry from Canada to South Africa. Why does the US remain in the "closet" on this issue? If two people of the same sex love each other and respect their love let them marry.

As long as the government looks at marriage as a contract and there are clauses written into the tax code for marriage it is discrimination to deny a couple that option.

I don't think it's any of the government's business if two people want to marry each other, whether gay or straight. It's a decision between two people, their God, and their community....why should some bureaucrat have a say in the matter?

As for private gay marriage....if two men or two women want to commit to each other, I wish them the best.

Gay marriage is a financial thing. They want the financial bennies. I'm single - I don't like giving the bennies to straits, but they were grandfathered in. Why should I give those bennies when their is no biological reason to?
