When multiplying or dividing a positive and a negative, the answer will be negative. If positive and positive, it will be positive. If both are negative, the answer will be positive.

When adding or subtracting a positive and a negative the answer will have the same sign as the larger number. If both are negative, the answer is negative. If both are positive, the answer is positive.
