Pursuit of happiness is a relative term. For one it may be freedom, for another it can mean love. Persuit of happiness is the journey of a warrior on the path of life, who is constantly facing challenges and learns from it, in doing so his personality gets crystilized within by ethics and he constantly moves ahead and makes decisions that reflect his ethics, in body, mind and soul and finds its compatibility from within. I think this is the persuit of happiness according to me. It take mastery, but its worth it! Because then happiness becomes permanent.

Its a different pursuit for everyone - for me its being able to run my own business and make a living so I can have the cash to support friends and family, to recreate by fishing in a lake or playing golf, to be creative playing music for myself and others which entertains and expresses my being, answer questions and express opinions to others with out fear of arrest or harassment. for others its other things - making a family - getting an education - retiring after a successful career - worshipping God - building bridges and buildings - or just sittin on the porch drinking a beer.

Why do people ask such dumb questions? I mean seriously, there are questions that have multiple answers (good questions), questions that have one, big, difficult answer (good questions), and questions that have one, big, fat, AMAZINGLY OBVIOUS answer (dumb questions). Your question falls in the latter category.
What do you mean, "What does the pursuit of happiness mean?" It means TO PURSUE HAPPINESS. Are you illiterate? The answer is right in the question.

Finding out what you were created to do, the meaning of your life, following your bliss, going where God leads, etc., etc.
Figure out what you really love to do, do it well, have it benefit others and you've got it.
