OK, our teacher wants us to write, but ANALYZE the events of the ELECTION OF1800. He doesn't want a summary, and when I looked back on what I had written, it was just that-- a summary. I was wondering, HOW THE HECK do you I write an ANALYSIS on a historical event? Sure, I can do it in english, but in history? I can't throw opinion into a factual story, so where does the analysis come in? Thanks so much for the help if you can!

OK, try this, a summary is the brief explanation of the results of the election. An analysis is why the issues before the voters caused then to vote they way they did.

Try cause and effect. What were the issues of the day? How did the candidates use certain issues to strengthen their campaign and why did the people vote as they did.

Cause and effect are common types of essays and writings on history papers.
