When all else fails just ask yourself, WWJD (What Would Jesus Do) keep an open mind for the postives in everything and go from there. I think any chruch or group that judges people are wrong. Think of a person with HIV should you hate them just because they have HIV? No, as a christain you would pray for them. You should mention this to your chruch if they really have these awful feelings tords different types of people. I would consider attending another church.

we've an entire comprehend-how of Christianity. Christians are actually not stupid or ignorant as a team. some are, yet that stands actual for each individual no longer in effortless terms Christians. As for believing what you're instructed, have you ever rather executed study on your individual to ascertain how plenty your info holds as much as scrutiny? there is not any info that there have been ever partitions around Jericho while the tale supposedly handed off. Jesus' beginning is rather impossible because of the fact he had to be born at 2 diverse cases. a rather good variety of the thoughts can not be shown. the only human beings claiming that the thoughts are supported by utilising archaeological info are Christian archaeologists. The non-Christian archaeologists don't think that the thoughts are consistent with the info. thus far, there's no longer a single shred of info that Jesus ever walked the earth. there's no longer something the helps any of the supernatural activities of the Bible. There are not even eyewitness money owed from historians that would desire to have recorded those activities had they got here approximately. you're suitable. There are fairly some clever people who have self belief in God. There additionally are fairly some who're Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, Wiccan, and a rather good variety of others. Intelligence does not supply somebody a monopoly on faith.

I think you are more christian for not having any hard feeling or negative attitudes towards gay people. Some of the most obnoxious people I have met are christians and it does nothing for their cause.

You aren't really going against your religion. Your religion is just one part of what makes you you. You can live by the rules but you can also make your own mind up on things.

I think that above all that the bible says such as man shall not lie with man that the most important saying is to love one another as I have loved you. Jesus loves us all, even sinners of whom everyone is because everyone has broken one of God's rules, so why can't society follow example.

I highly recommend this book:

What the Bible Really Says About Homosexuality: Daniel A. Helminiak

This author carefully & thoroughly goes over the entire Bible & refutes every misinterpretation modern christians have for anti-gay & lesbian bigotry, using the Bible as an excuse. He is Episcopalian, if I am not mistaken.

The reason for the anti-gay nonsense is basic ignorance, difficulty of interpretation from cultures so very different from ours, different language, and predisposition to look for things people want to find in the first place. It's always alot easier to act like a Pharisee & feel good about yourself than it is to act like JC, who hung out with the most unpopular people of the time. Who would the unpopulars be today? That's where JC would be; with the gays & the homeless & the white collar criminals.

Peace,

;-)

Of course it is. There is not one thing wrong with being Christian and refusing to fall in to the lock-step attitude that many claim you have to believe or do to "be a true Christian".
Let me let you in on a little secret. No matter how hard someone has prayed, no matter how much they have studied, not one of them has actually met Jesus or God in the flesh and asked them about anything written in the Bible. If they are telling you that their interpretation is the "correct" one, guess what? By assuming to know the Heart and Mind of God they are committing the sin of PRIDE as well as Bearing False Witness.
One of the wonderful things about "true" Christians is that the real ones KNOW that everything they read may not mean what they interpret it to mean, they understand that Jesus came here not to condemn people, but to save them, they understand that Jesus walked with the prostitutes, the lepers and all the other Pariahs of the time. I believe that If you study and believe, you have much to teach THEM, not the other way around.

Speaking from personal experience as a Christian and a friend, I don't believe in having negative feelings toward gay people. Some of my friends are gay or bi and I don't, no I CHOOSE not to act or feel negatively toward them. I refuse to see them as the world would dare to, I instead see the wonderful loving hearts they have. They are some of my strongest friends. I see the human soul, whether or not they have a different sexual situation. I believe that if I ever felt badly towards them, it would be hypocritical and our friendship would be null. They are human same as me. They are people. Same as I won't discriminate against someone because of skin color, how dare I discriminate because of orientation. What kind of Christian would I be?? I may not understand their choices, but I will NOT judge them. "Judge not, lest ye be judged."

I am a christian too and this would be a hard question to answer. Because as a christian you are supposed to love everyone. I can say though that I would never try to be one of these people because its just not my thing and it just isn't right but I cannot put down a person for what he or she believes in...Hope this helps you out a little.

If you are a Christian you are to welcome and be kind to all people.

The second most important commandment according to Jesus was:
“The most important one says: ‘People of Israel, you have only one Lord and God. You must love him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.’ The second most important commandment says: ‘Love others as much as you love yourself.’ No other commandment is more important than these.” Mark 12:28-31 CEV

Now I am gay and I think is all right, but remember when the people of Israel mistreated the whores He sat down with them and was kind. Now if you think that it is immoral then that is your opinion and your faith. If you are mean and end a friendship because of it, then that's different.

Because you are Christian doesn't mean that you can't have gay friends.

It even says to love your enemies so you can't be wrong =D.

I find it hard to see how anyone could be a Christian and HAVE 'hard feelings or negative attitudes' to anyone.

Christ taught love and tolerance.

Read the New Testament, and the Gospels - those are the teachings of Christ.

I have, and I'm Jewish - but I believe in finding things out for myself, and formulating my own moral code, and following my conscience. Blindly following what someone else tells you to think isn't faith, it's apathy. You sound as if you want to do the right thing, so use the brain God gave you, and think for yourself.

Depends on who you ask, obviously. My denomination says we are all supposed to be looking inward to our own sins rather than accusing others. If I were to throw a Bible verse at you I'd suggest Matthew Chapter 23 and think abou the preachers condemning the "others" amongst us.

As a part time preacher I'd be glad to call you a fellow Christian. I hope that helps.
