Dell 2400 Dimension starts then screen goes blank, help?
I have a Dell 2400 Dimension and I power up and see WindowsXP then a blank screen. I then tried F8 to go into safemode but the screen went blank again. Next I hit F1, it said dell did not start your PC for safety reasons and said a new software or hardware may have been added.

I don't have recovery disc, Dell won't help.... any idea's how to get to "System Restore".

ps: I don't care if I lose any files at this point, again I have NO DISC

Thanks for any help , getting desperate

Most of the time that happens, it's because the processor is overheating. Sometimes, it's because the cpu fan has failed, others, it's because the cpu fan is so full of dust, that it can't start spinning.

Of course, it could also be that your power supply is failing. If it is failing, you'll HAVE to buy a new one through Dell, because the cheaper Dell power supplies are proprietary.

Load living house windows, then while its on line, pass to Dells internet site, and receive your perfect drivers there.--in many circumstances circumstances when I receive each and every of the drivers, I additionally burn them to a CD for swifter installation next time.

I would attempt replacing the power supply plug, or the ac plug. then i would look at the mother board. I had the same problem and i had to have the whole motherboard replaced. Try the ac plug first.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
