The subject in a sentence is what does the action....since the verb is the action.

1. Tell them what you're going to tell them. So the subject is the noun that gives meaning to the action in the introduction ..

2. Then tell them what the subject is doing.

3. Summary - tell them what you told them.

abstract - is something hard to decipher or is hidden and you have to dig for the meaning.....for example...what's the meaning of life is an abstract idea.
........The subject is not really doing anything..so it's abstract.

A subject (or theme) of a paper can be stated in a few words or a phrase.

An introductory summary ". . .Tell(s) the reader what you are going to say (statement of purpose)." It is usually the first paragraph of a paper and is an expansion of the subject. You may want to briefly answer the 5 W questions in the introductory summary. (Who, What, When, Where, Why)

One can find examples of both in a history book. The chapter will have a subject, with the first paragraph being the introductory summary.
