they were all within close enough proximity to Italy to have been viewed by Roman citizens. it was Rome that orinitated the designation "the 7 Wonders of the [ancient] World" to describe these structures, all of which were man-made. this explains the absense of the Great Wall of China, the great pyramid structures of the Mayan and Aztec civilizations of South America, and other just as "wonderous" structures in other parts of the world.

They were all created for a pacific purpose and not as eye candy although designed with great beauty.

they're all HUGE...massive, and its hard to understand how they were constructed...i.e. the pyramids....
