If you're NOT low on cash Hepa is the way to go, I got my new filter today. So you obviously have an Internet connection, which is good because it would seem nearly impossible to find the right filter if you had to drive and look. I only have to change mine once a year, but let me say this it's enough, at $65.00 each, plus your pre-filter which ran me $22.00 each. I have 2 Ionic Breeze machines, which get dirty quicker, like once a week or so, they make a kind of funny noise, and you can smell the effect they have on the air, I use them in smaller areas, but if you have smoke and dust Hepa is betta! Consider the price of the replacement filters for the machine you decide on, I saw some of them priced at $100 each, just for a replacement filter on a home unit.
And actually today I took my Oreck and put it in my garage it's off to the repair shop once again, it's the third time, I don't believe I will ever buy another, but they look nice.
One final answer:My favorite is called HUNTER Quiet flo

We got a large room size one with HEPA filter for the bedroom. I slept unbelieveably well during allergy season and my husband's snoring decreased. Well worth it!

The catch to buying air purifiers is to buy one that is large enough to treat the space you need treated. Depending on the size of the room... it can get pretty expensive. Good luck!

i use the ones from walmart. they are easy to use and i can pick up more filters with no hassle. i think its put out by GE electric. i have bad allergy's and i like that it has an indicate light on the outside out it to notify when the filters needs to be changed and that its quiet.
