What do you think has been the greatest hatred between countries ever?

There's been many long standing grudges. One radio personality said the worst he expereinced was the Serbs Vs. Croats. I'm sure there's been other bad ones. What was the worst in terms of sheer hatred and atrocities

During the Crusades both Christian and Muslim alike committed numerous attrocities against one another and against the innocent. Because both the Christians of Europe and the Turkish Muslims fought because of a devout conviction that they were doing the work of God. Their disagreement over who was indeed more righteous I think fueled their hatred to an extent that greed over land and resources falls short of invoking...but these are not countries.

As far as countries or kingdoms are concerned, Rome's treatment of Carthage at the end of the 3rd Punic War was also uncommonly egregious. The kingdoms had been at war for over a century when Rome finally defeated Carthage in 146. Rather than just conquer the defeated Carthagians, whom they had practically forced to go to war in the first place, they utterly burned and destroyed their city, either slaughtered or enslaved the entire population of the city, AND salted the earth where the city once stood (so that nothing would ever grow there again), declaring the site anathema (or cursed), bringing upon them the hatred of the gods as well. This degree of utter hatred was uncommon even for the Romans.

I would say that England and France was a big one.

But there has always been a hatred between the Jews and the other cultures in the Middle East. I think that is the biggest, longest conflict in hisotry.

Well, before WWI, England and France fought at least a dozen or so wars against each other.
