some do, some don't.........but i do it anyway.

i think we all have enough 'stuff', we all have a decent roof over our heads, we all have warm clothing, three meals a day, our bills are paid and while none of us are rich none of us are suffering.........so i send money:

to cancer clinic in honor of my sister-in-law and a dear friend

to the local gospel mission hall in honor of my brother-in-law

to the sally ann in honor of our parents

to the mentally disabled workshops in honor of my brother and another dear friend

to the local food bank in honor of my best friend

to the christmas bureau in honor of my husband's buddy

We did this last year and it was pretty cool to learn about the charities each member of the family found to donate to. We shared our concerns for different issues and felt pretty good about the use of our money, rather than buying more crap we didn't really need, we were able to help families get food or clean water, etc.

Great idea, for your family and for the world.

I think it would be a good idea to take up donations for our soldier's families to allow their children to have a nice Christmas while they are over in Iraq, or to buy toys and donate them to charities such as Rolling Thunder who do toy drives every year.

We've been doing that since 2001, in memory of those who lost on Sept. 11th. More ppl should make donations instead of giving gifts.

We started 2 years ago and it has been AMAZING!! My Mom, Sister and I go shopping together , have lunch, and really enjoy picking out things for people who really need and appreciate it.
It is a great tradition.

Some members in the family have asked this and they are specifically sending me to this website: http://www.heifer.org/
It's along the "teach a person to fish" lines.

No, why would we do that? If you want to give your Christmas away then go for it.
