Weaver is a mediocre pitcher. He has been his whole career. He pitched very well in the World Series, and he deserves credit for that. But let's not forget that he was so bad with the Angels early in the season that they designated him for assignment. Weaver is a free agent, and he will command a big salary because there are few pitchers available on the market. IMO, whoever signs Weaver will regret it. He will have his moments, but he is very inconsistent.

Same here, cthunder... I nearly fainted when the Cards picked up Weaver in August, me thinking, that he was a washed-up loser, based on his outings with the Yanks and the Dodgers, that I'd seen. Even in the second game of the World Series, when the Cards lost, 3-1, I thought Jeff Weaver was a weakling.
He's declared Free agency now, let's see what his value is, on the MLB open market. I personally don't like him, would not like to see the Cardinals pick him up (not with all the other talent out there...) but we will see. Thanks to Weaver for pitching the game of his life in Game 5, though...!
Isn't Baseball just the very best game ever??

Jeff Weaver got incredibly lucky during the playoffs against a team (Detroit) which picked the wrong time to go into a slump, both with the bat and with the glove. He is not worth whatever contract he will receive and the team that picks him up will be chumps. How many games did he win total for the two teams he pitched for last year?

My Tigers cap is off to Dream Weaver. He did no longer artwork out right here in Detroit or in ny, yet he's ultimately stumbled on his nitch among solid significant League pitchers and that i'm happy with him. I even desire sometime he will come decrease back to Detroit to be a factor of the Tigers' effective pitching crew.

Jeff Weaver was a good pitcher in Detroit early on in his career. then he went to NYY via trade, his mechanics got switched and his confidence went way down. He got booed his first few starts as Yankee. After that he went to the Dodgers, another place not easy to play. then Anaheim. Got to play with his brother Jered. Ended up in StL. They got him back to his old mechanics and he pitched phenomenally in the playoffs and world series. I think his best bet as a free agent would be to sign somewhere in the midwest such as Cleveland, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Chicago Cubs, or someplace like Atlanta.

i think that he has a chance to get a decent deal, after what he did in the postseason. He deserves a contract, finally after what he went throught this season. He can get around 15 wins if he s lucky

He really stepped it up during the playoffs. Maybe he can finally put it together for a full season. He's got a lot of heart.

I would say he is like a solid number 4 starter. He has lost some zip on his fastball, he even admitted this. He can still be very effective thouhg when he changes speeds.

i think he more than earned the right to at least be a starter for the cardinals.if he don't work out so be it, but he should at least be given the chance.what a job he did for them down the stretch and in the post season.
