Yes way too young! And you know what? Your 8 month old doesn't care what her hair looks like...in fact, nobody does.

With an 8 month old baby they still have the chance of getting their "breath taken away" by the breeze of a blow dryer... No matter what temperature it is set at. I would suggest to moisten the hair in the morning and then lightly comb it the way you would like to see it.
Restyle during the day as needed with a little more water and brushing. :)
Sensory input, bonding, and self esteem... Dosen't get better than that for a baby.

About one with my youngest twin but with my oldest twin we started blow drying her hair as soon as she came home from the hospital pretty much. She is disabled and can not turn her head or roll over or anything to get off her wet hair, so we have to dry it or she lays in it wet and it takes forever to dry and its icky, she has a trachestomy tube with ties on her neck that get soaking wet if we dont dry the hair.
My son never dries his hair he is 5, I have done it maybe a hand full of times

Just use a cool and low setting and keep it a little away from her head. My daughter's hair was always a little crazy too (it would hang straight in her face and had no natural part...I had to train it) and when it was colder out her hair would get a lot of static so I would put just a dab of gel in it and blow dry it. Otherwise it'd just get all in her face and get all gross. Now she's 2 and it does fine but she likes having it dried because she says it feels good....so yeah your little one will be ok if you do it and you won't have to fight the crazy hair!
Wow... I find it funny how many people think it's bad to try and make your child look decent when they go out. Drying hair isn't harmful to them (I asked a pediatrician first) and there are cool settings so you shouldn't burn their head. So go ahead and keep giving my answer a thumb down....at least my child has good hair!

Nope. Blow drying is just fine for little ones, exercising the same standards of safety you normally do. Make sure she's not startled at first. She will, at even eight months, want to blow dry YOUR hair once she gets the hang of it, on lowest setting, of course! : )

If you want, go ahead and blow dry her hair on a low setting, and with cold air if possible. My son is two and has long curly hair. I blow dry his hair when he lets me. You may put in a detangler that conditions her hair and makes it more manageable in the mornings.

My baby is 8 months old too and has lots of hair... I notice that b/c it isnt fully grown in that it is fine, thin, and has a million fly-aways! Im going to try and blowdry her hair now... i never even thought of that until i read your question! duh me. Anyways, I have been putting on detangler after her bath... and I notice that using conditioner helps ALOT. Like the huggies cleanteam.. it is shampoo+cond. in one.
If you keep the setting low and far away and move the blo-dryer a lot I dont see what the problem would be.

don't blow dry a baby's hair, that is very hard on her tender scalp. i have never blow dried any of my three daughter's hair...they did that themselves in junior high. my youngest is eight. she has terrible bed hair. i just spritz it with detangler and brush. that should work for your baby.

Go for it!! Does your blow dryer have a cool button? Use that to ensure you don't get her little head too hot. I always fixed my girls hair as soon as they had some. Blow dryer, hair spray, the works!! You're never too young to look your best. :)

It seems like it would be OK if you did it on the cool setting. Or instead, you could re-wet it and comb it in the morning after she wakes up, just so it air-dries flat again.
