I recently got a job at Target in the back room/stock room. My job consists of lifting heavy boxes up to 50 lbs and climbing 15 foot ladders while lifting heavy boxes. We have been trying to concieve now for months. If I were to get pregnant they would find another job for me that would be less stressful on me and the baby. The thing is, what if I am pregnant now and dont know it for sure yet? I have a gut feeling that I am. I wont really know until around the 18th. If I am pregnant, is it harmful to me and the baby working such a physically demanding job? Is it too early for it to even cause any harm? Thank you!!!

Dear Lady.
First of all I congradulate you for having decided to conceive.
Secondly I appreciate your sincere concern regarding the pregnancy and its effects on your job.
To conceive is not a sin and it is god given blessing to become a mother, for any woman. Indeed that is the ultimate aim of NATURE.
First you should shred all the ignorant ideas from your brain regarding the conception. It is natural process and you should take it cooly.
Only your body keeps transforming for some thing new to happen inside and you should get prepared to accept it psychologically.
Secondly it has absolutely no effect on the style or type of work you are doing till 24 weeks of your pregnancy.
You can carry on any type of job you are doing till 24 weeks and only then in the event, you develop a feeling of weakness/tiredness/giddiness etc (that is any physical symptoms) you should consult your obstrecian and seek advise.
In India it is not new that pregnant woman keep working in the fields thought out the day and night and are engaged laborious schedules. So often some of them have delivered their babies in the paddy field and happily surviving.

You should be fine. You need to stay active during your pregnancy, if you are. Just remember to follow the rules, lift with your legs not your back, etc. Why wait til the 18th?? Take a test now. If you are, see your Dr. and discuss what and how much physical work you are able to do. Good luck!

First of all you should get the test done to know the exact position whether you are preg or not. Then you should think about other things. If the result is yes then you should avoid this job and try to get another which is not so demanding.

If you are used to heavy lifting or hard work you do not need to change anything. This would be the same as someone that works out a lot keeping up with their exercise routine. I suggest you wait until you know you are pregnant before even worrying about this.

The only thing right now that might cause problems trying to conceive is working nightshift or odd hours. That apparently throws off your body and can cause miscarriage or inability to conceive.

If you are pg these are ?'s and concerns you would need to talk to your doctor about not someone on here!

Hard on both you and the baby.

Once you are pregnant inform them they are suppose to accommodate you , state laws are different , they may have to put you on disability of some kind. See a lawyer, your doctor should also have some feel for this law most Gynac's should be aware of it, from past experiences in writing certificates.......

yes it is because you are putting yourself and your baby at risk and if you have a miscarry you will never get over that because you have been trying so long.
