About half of the time when I try to start the motor in my boat, I can not get the starter to stop until I disconnect the battery. I have tried two seperate key ignitions, so it is not that. Would it be something in the starter, or something electrical?

Yes. I think it sounds like your starter solinoid is sticking. the solinoid is wired to the key switch. when you turn the key, it tells the solinoid to send power to the starter motor. If it were sticking it would continusly run the starter! P.S when it does this is it turning the engine or just making a wurring sound?

Chances are, the selenoid (?sp) has gone bad. That's the little spring loaded gear that when you turn the key, comes out of the starter's motor and connects to the fly wheel, turning your engine over until it starts to run on gas instead of electricity. It's been a long while since I've had to replace one, but it should be about a fifty dollar item at your local auto parts store. If you don't know how to disconnect the battery and turn a few screws yourself, then take it to a reputable mechanic -- they'll charge about $90 per hour for labor.
