"Violations" refers to the notice Y!AT will send you if you ask or answer in a manner not within the Yahoo Answers guidelines. You will then lose the points you gained from the answer, plus an amount of points they decide on, probably by closing their eyes and poking at the keyboard. You get enough of them, they take away your permission to use the site. Guidelines are posted, you had to 'agree' to them when you signed in the first time.

There are too many ways on here to get violations on here to go through the in's and out's with you. Just about anything will get you one anymore.

Violations are when you ask something "offensive" and someone reports you for it. However, it doesent have to be offensive. Some people just report for the heck of it.

I just got one for saying something that wasn't an 'answer' to a question it was just an opinion. And they took 12 points for it! Ridiculous.
