One of the men visiting the brothel mistakes her for a prostitute and has sex with her while she's passed out. She eventually rises in position at the brothel and weds a wealthy count and shows her true nature to everyone who has wronged her.

One of the punishments includes all the girls stripping naked (yes to the pervs they show everything) and having their bodies ridiculed. This film may anger you but it will make you appreciate what you have.

"Somewhere in Time" is my mom's favorite sad love story movie. It's a little old--mid to late 80's. She still cries every time she watches it. My question is if you just had your heart broken why would you want to see something sad? wouldn't that make you more depressed? I guess if the idea is to empower you by watching others overcome adversity that's ok. Be careful it doesn't drag you down.

"Love Story" is the ultimate sad love story to watch or rent. As far as where people come out on top...try:
"Shining Through"
"Pepe le Moko" or it's American counterpart "Algiers"
"Casablanca"
Actually...only in "Shining Through" is there a thoroughly happy ending. But if you feel like wallowing (and I know I do after a break up) try the other movies. Star cross'd loves and the like.

A walk to remember is a classic, yet any Nicholas Sparks movie would qualify. His video clips also contain The pc, the perfect music, pricey John, and the further modern-day danger-free haven.
