How can any one have victory when the country of Iraq was "invaded" and no war declared. Victory over what? Ideologies, religion, people, a theory, or a decomocratic government based on western ideologies which appear never to work in Islamic societies.

You are comparing apples to oranges. first off, Japan never had a formal declaration of war against the US. They just sneaked in and attacked us. Because the Islamic ideology is different, and that a radical group can and does control a vast majority, only proves that if one of the Imams openly said " go to America and begin killing infidels", there would be more immigrants coming across the border just to kill Americans.

of course you can have victory without both sides declaring war, or with both declaring, or with neither declaring. It depends on what you consider victory to be.

The merits of the Iraq war in particular is another issue.

No.

We've already had victory in Iraq. We've defeated the government and installed one more to our liking.

What we are doing now is aiding that new gov't in providing for their own security against the rebels.

Correct. Viet Nam wasn't a war either. So, technically, those 60,000 guys over there that got killed were awful careless people! NOT killed in a WAR!
