I'm kinda alone. Everybody makes fun of flutes like on AMerican pie. That is so wrong. I want to know what you think.

I think flutes are cool. My friends play flute. And i also agree that that's wrong. You should just ignore people who make fun of you.
I think people who do that are either jealous or are bullies(or both), because if they aren't jealous, why do they even care?? they're bullies either way.the best thing to do is to ignore them.

I play flute, I TEACH flute. What bugged me most about the American Pie movie was comments from male friends. A friend of ours who also played in band in high school made the comment to my husband that after seeing the movie he wondered if he should have married a flute player instead of a clarinet player.
He also told my hubby that how they portrayed band camp was true, and that it was a known fact that flute players who attended band camp were "easy". He was laughing, and said he only said what he did to get a reaction out of me, and that he didn't mean it, but I lost respect for him that day. I REALLY wanted to slug him!!!
Keep playing your flute. There will always be idiots out there who think humor at someone else's expense is funny, even if it could ruin their reputation. Ignore them!!!
By the way, the friend's wife made him apologize to me!!!!!
By the way, all MY flute friends were "good girls" in high school. None of were like the tart in the movie!!!

The flute is a great instrument!! It's difficult to learn and master, and I'm not sure I ever did!! LOL I started out playing it in Junior High then switched to the piccolo in high school. THAT was an adventure too!! Good luck with your skills!! And don't worry about what everyone else thinks........they're just jealous :)

I played the flute. Stick with it. People forget about movies. Flutes get the best parts, too! Flutes rule!

Try listening to some Jethro Tull. Real Flute player!! They also beat out Metallica for Best Band of the year in1990`s.

JUST KIDDING! lol. I don't play the flute. Flute players aren't the only ones made fun of. Almost any1 in band/orchestra is. Those ppl are making fun of them b/c they're retarded. I find nothing wrong with band ppl.

I'm 15 nd i play flute at my HighSchool... It doesn't rly bother me when ppl make fun of it for that kind of stuff cuz me nd my friends make fun of ourselves that way nd when other ppl say it they're usually just kidding and when they're just tryin to piss me off i just laugh about it... I dk if they're imature enough that they have to make fun of other things/ppl to feel good about themselves they're really not worth getting upset over....

Flutes are an essential part of the orchestra... whatever will we do without their silvery shrill? Besides, it's so sexy-looking... =D
But of course, clarinets are sexier XD
