No... Merchants already make adjustments for the worthlessness of the penny by give adjusted change, - or by having a give-and-take "thingy" near the register.

Besides, taking it out of circulation will just cause people to hoard them, - thinking that they will be valuable.

Absolutely.

The reason is simple and self-evident:

It costs more than the face value of the currency to manufacturer this now useless coin.

What kind of fiscal logic is that?

Oops - I forget for a moment, we're talking about the "$300 ashtray" Federal Government here. I still say it has to go!

no because the money system will round up everything...not round down..and that means higher prices and im pretty sure no one wants to pay more for something
