I have a demented acquaintance sitting here with me who says the best way is to pet them and get them all sleepy then coax them into a fishnet bag like women use to wash their lingerie in. Then you can safely and easily dunk them thoroughly to get a good clean wash. But, he says to be certain you have the blue toilet bowl cleaner in the tank because cats are really dirty with all that hair and saliva from licking. Give it a good flush and rinse kitty nice and clean but have the towel ready when you pull it out because if it gets away from you it will run and hide before you dry it off. And who knows where all that water will be dripping.

Normally it will be three days before you see kitty again.

For some people, everything is hard. But the suggestion about going in first should solve your dilemma.
