Lets look at the similarities between Bush and Hitler. Both were elected/selected, Bush by the Supreme Court and Hitler when Hindenburg died. They both had terrorist attacks on their country, Bush 9/11 and Hitler the Reichstag's fire. Both ignored warning of the impending attacks. Both have/had conspiracy theories about thier involvement. Both blamed foreign ideologues. Both made speeches right afterwords at the site of the attack. Within weeks Bush had the Patriot Act and Hitler had his "Decree on the Protection of People and State". Both had a 4 year sunset provision put on them to get them passed. Both had protesters arrested or put in free speech zones away from the place where they were appearing. Both use the word Homeland to describe the nation. Both claim/claimed to be Christian. Both formed a new agency to consolidate various independent police, intelligence and border agencies together. Bush got Homeland Security and Hitler got the Central Security Office. Both have an SS, Bush has the Secret Service as a National Police Force and Hitler had the SchutzStaffel. Both invaded coutries that hadn't attacked them, Hitler invaded Poland and Bush invaded Iraq. Both of their governments described the Geneva Conventions as outdated and quaint. Both built detention camps outside the country to bypass their laws. Both brought in industry and forged an alliance, and they got former executives of the nation's biggest companies into government positions. Both use government to empower corporations and reward the society's richest individuals, privatize much of the commons, stifle dissent, strip people of constitutional rights, and create an illusion of prosperity through continual and ever-expanding war.
Is history repeating itself?

Absolutely NOT, and to be honest, the comparison always infuriates me. Bush hasn't put anyone in concentration camps that I'm aware of, nor has he called for genocide. He hasn't slaughtered the mentally or physically handicapped, nor has he tried to eliminate homosexuals. He hasn't had anyone do medical experiments on the detainees at Gitmo. Where are the trains full of "undesirables"? Where are the gas ovens? Where are the plans to take over the world? What about the "Master Race"?

Did Hitler provide the Jews with copies of the Torah? Detainees at Gitmo have copies of the Koran. Did Hitler accommodate the religious dietary needs of the Jews? Not only is the Bush administration ensuring that the religious dietary needs, but the Gitmo detainees are gaining weight. That's sure as hell a far cry from Hitler.

As much as I detest him and am upset that he breaths air, No - I don't think Bush and Hitler have anything in common.
I think its a difficult bridge to cross...6 million Jews alone died under Hitlers hand. That is something that should always stand alone. However, I wonder with what is happening and continues to happen in Africa (mainly Dar Fur) if we aren't facing another holocaust. We swore as a WORLD that it would Never happen again, that's why we created the UN...and it is...it is.

He's the opposit. Doesn't have much support form the people. Just google the terms. The history just doesn't match up. The two don't have the same beliefs by far. Reguardless of grandfathers, I don't see any unity in this country.

I don't, but there are some things that are happening in this country that DO have a parallel to what the Nazis started doing once they were in power. It's not remotely the same "yet", but we better not continue down that road!

Yes I have. And I think we'd all be in a world of crap if his father wasn't around. I think the old man has really reined him in recently and has had some influence on him all along.
If the old man wasn't around I think our troops would be goose stepping into Iran in Crusader uniforms.

If you will do a search on the Net...you will find that GW Bush's grandfather financed Hitler! Look into the Caryle Group. The answers are out there.....and they are facts...written into history.

I am a democrat. I do not support Bush at all, but to compare him to Hitler? You need to read up on History! Talk to a survivor, or a child of a survivor. You have no idea what Hitler did.

When he first campaigned to attack Iraq, I thought they did a good job of selling Saddam Hussein as "Hitler". But now, I realize, the analogy was quite backwards.

Short answer: Yes, all the time.
