Ants become a nuisance when they enter homes. Instead of spending money on costly pest control, you can get rid of ants by removing the food source and using soap water.
I found the information at http://www.pests.in useful.

Find where they are entering.....like a electric socket or the patio door. Then....I know this sounds funny but it totally works. Sprinkle Cinnamon all over the openings....then sprinkle around window...anywhere you think they are likely to enter. Ants HATE Cinnamon...and will not pass thru it.

For the ants already in the house...use a bug spray.

this is especially good if you have pets and you don't want them to get sick around bug sprays

in case you do not have young children or small pets...... blend equivalent aspects of powered boric acid with peanut butter. The powdered boric acid would nicely be received at maximum pharmacies. Make the combination in a throw away cup, reduce out one inch squares of skinny card board and positioned a glob on each and each and every little bit of card board. Slide the baited products of card board into as many hid places as sensible. the reason universal trojan horse sprays do not artwork is that it really kills the few sugar ants that you will see that. The boric acid and peanut butter bait is carried back to the nest. Richard in Spring, Texas

I do not know but I despise them. They have made my life miserable especially during the summer months. I hope someone out there will give a good remedy to get rid of them.
