It's not called discrimination...because some employers have the right to do "ANY" check they would like to do before they hire you. They can do background, credit, income, employer,,,,etc..

I have heard that employers are doing credit checks when hiring employees. It is said that if you file for bankruptcy it shows the potential employer that you may not be responsible.

Yes, because the prospective employer may feel that if you are unable to handle your personal finance properly, than there's a possibility that you might not take your job seriously. They might see it as a sign of a lack of maturity in that individual and that he/she might not be able to handle the responsibilty required in the job desciptions. Not all employers will discriminate,but I bet you that there is large percentage out there that does it.
