Marian Anderson was a famous opera singer. She was not allowed to sing at Constitution Hall in Washington DC, because they had a "no ***** performers" policy. Instead she gave a famous performance outside the Lincoln Memorial. I can't say what she learned other than how many friends and supporters she had and how STUPID racism is.

She was an amazing woman, who exuded class and grace. Find out as much as you can about her, and you will agree!

Rosa Parks is an amazing example. She took a risk by not standing up from her bus seat when a white man came and wanted to take her place. She risked prison, and did actually go there for a little while. In this one action, she triggered the civil rights movement and helped to fight for African American rights throughout her life.

Harriet Tubman took an incredible risk every time she led a group of slaves to freedom through the underground railroad. She faced the toughest penalties for stealing "property", more than the people she led. The first time she excaped herself, she learned that she could not live free while her fellow brothers and sisters in slavery were not, so she devoted her life to bringing them to freedom.
