What should I ask for? Did you ever have a time in your life where you where like... I don't want anything? It's weird, like nothing comes to mind when I think of stuff I want, atleast nothing with a price tag. Also, what should I get for the following age group that's under $20 each (as you can tell I'm not that great at picking out gifts).
30ish woman
grandmother
male-29
father-52
brother-19
friends that i don't really know that well-20ish

Yeah I know that feeling , I often have such feeling , and more over choosing gifts is the hardest thing I would do, sometimes it takes me forever to make my mind on a Gift .
Few days ago I went through a website that makes it very easy for me to choose gifts , they have the gifts grouped into categories , here take a look if you like :

Hi

I know the dilemma well! Every year when I am asked what I would like I say 'a good dictionary, a good hand and nail cream ...' but they don't want to buy me those! People quite often want to buy to impress instead of buy to please.

So ... without knowing the personal tastes of these people ....

A good standby is an ornate metal initial bookmark - most people read something - and it's a nice keepsake anyway, and inexpensive. Or a stylish bottle opener - some really nice inexpensive brushed steel ones around (and more than one can be useful!)

30ish woman: Any piece of modern costume jewellery will be acceptable - a bracelet or necklace - there is a lot to choose from these days without breaking the bank!
grandmother: a small brooch depicting something that you have in common perhaps, or a small ceramic trinket box with a tiny photo of you inside.
male-29: If it's someone 'special' - a nice leather wallet with a little photo of you slipped inside.
father-52: Framed photo with poem, a good tie (always brought out for special occasions then!)
brother-19: if he drives - get him a stylish gear knob; if he doesn't, get him a little black book ....
friends that i don't really know that well-20ish: fun gifts! Mugs or glasses with mottos

Good luck and Happy Christmas!

x

30ish woman-- make her a "pampering" basket. Bath bombs, body wash, a loofah, candles, and maybe cheap fuzzy slippers. You can also buy her a basket like this at stores like bath and body works, but they tend to be a little more expensive, and a homemade gift is more heartfelt.

Grandmother-- the above gift may work well, or perhaps you should nicely frame a picture of you two together and write her a poem or letter about how much she means to you.

Male (29)-- Try CD's or a gift certificate to his favorite store (according to his interests). If you know his music taste, then a CD is always appreciated, and cheap enough for your budget.

father (52)-- fancy food always goes down well with fathers. If he is a coffee addict, gourmet coffee. A wine fanatic, some wine (respectively beer, tea, etc.) Chocolate works too, but avoid looking genericly christmas-standyish by getting him something else small-- a cool gadget that is cheap (for example, an electric finder for keys)

brother (19)-- A nineteen year old boy? CD's are a safe bet.

friends you don't know that well-- Get a small box of fancy chocolates or sweets for each (those chocolate covered strawberries are always a great hit). You will spend less than 10 dollars per friend, (maybe less than five dollars if you find a great deal!) and won't have to worry about wrapping (chocolate is pre-wrapped and looks cute when you give it)

GOOD LUCK AND I HOPE I HELPED!

I can never have enough perfume and as you can buy large or small sizes the price can vary, thus it doesnt have to be expensive.

As for buying for all those guys - how about just buying fancy bath sets (male and female) - they are not the most original gift, but they are nice aswell as practical and its a quick and easy solution. But without knowing any of them and what sort of things they like its impossible to say!!

Good luck :-)

Why bother buying gifts for people that you know they won't like, will put ina drawer at best or at worst re warp them and give them away next year.

We need to break this cycle of over spending at Xmas - what is the point?

You shouldn't have to PROVE your love by spending all your spare cash on TAT!

I never want anything... well anything that people can afford. I always want big stuff, so I never bother.

$20 eh? not that much, so you'd be better off getting something personal, are you artistic, could you create anything? I always prefer home-made cards from my kids, rather than them going out and spending money on them.

Forgiveness!

The real meaning of Christmas is Forgiving, NOT FOR-GIVING!

It is just amazing how so many people (so-called Christians) are taken in by the ANTI-CHRISTMAS brain washing of the Retail Industry - Poor Lost Sheep CONSUME, OBEY, CONSUME, OBEY!

Jesus would be turning in his tomb - If he was still in it.

Pictures of the family always go great with my relatives. Send them a card and a pic and blammo, they are happy.
