Hi Princess Bubbles.

I have climbed Kilimanjaro twice. I'm two shy of my Seven Summitts (Everest & the Carstensz Pyramid) goal.

It is not a incredibly difficult climb, but people out of shape will pay for it, many of whom will not manage to summitt. Even the easiest routes will attack you with the altitude eventually.

The Machame route, noted on Wikipedia, is probably the best route if for no other reason than acclimation.

You'll also need a variety of clothing, as it can get...a wee bit cool up top. ;)

As for conditioning, as long as you're in fairly decent "average" shape for an active person, you should be OK for Killy.

You should possibly consider going up with a guide too. Killy is not as bad as some mountains in this regard, but it's always a wise move, especially on a first climb.

Good climbing & have a great trip!

Kilimanjaro is nice but challanging.

you can start by running daily for about 20 to 40 mins. also do some strength training for about 30 mins. do this for about 3 months before arriving here.

I moved here (Dar es Salaam) two years ago and u is intending to do the Kili next march,am told it is worth it. you can mail me ajuadia@yahoo.ca if you need more tips. here is the company i used www.afriroots.co.tz
