I'm a freshmen in high school and I'm 14. I really want to read an new book, something that will hook my attention. I just finished Flowers in the Attic and that was really good. This time I really want to read something about city life. I already read the outsiders, so don't suggest that. I was thinking about reading Less Than Zero or Bright Lights, Big City. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Every high school student should read Catcher in the Rye.

The catcher in the rye is usually required reading at some point in High school anyway.

It is broody, strange and full of all the teenage angst you can bare.

another great young adult book, (especially for anyone with siblings) is Jacob have I loved by Katherine Patterson. It was one of my favorite books growing up. That, and Alice through the looking glass.

***Thinks to herself... (so as not to directly address anyone else and get another "Chatting" violation.)

***I can't believe that guy above me actually let a 14 year old kid read that book (running with scissors?) Wow. Times have changed!

***Still thinking to myself!... I would tell this girl, if I were allowed to actually speak to her...

"Sweetheart... I don't suggest it. Let yourself grow up a little before allowing such things into your subsconscience. Running with scissors is a little too much, there is a time for everything and that book contains things you shouldn't rush to hear."

i'm a freshman as well & i recommend Upstate by Kalisha Buckhannon, if ur into urban fiction; or any of Dan Brown's books; or maybe Touching Spirit Bear if you haven't read that already (i know they're not really about the city life or anything like that but they are really good books)

Anything from Piers Anthony, especially the Xanth series if you are in sci-fi. Since you expressed an intrest in VC Andrews, perhaps you should read more of her books.
