... that the players that were involved in Seria A 2006 match fixing scandal are nominated for FIFA World Player of the Year 2006 and European Footballer of the Year 2006!!!!!

The players weren't involved... lol .... but how hard is to defend a goal when the match is fixed.... Juventus and others didn't won because they had great players, but because they had Moggi&Co!!!!!!!!

@RO35
I agree with you about Zidane, but that is another story.... he didn't effect the outcome of the game and that award was ONLY for the WC, not for the whole 2006 year!!!!!

First of all I think this 2 facts have nothing to do with each other since Cannavaro was an extraordinary captain for Italy and played extremely good during the WC and Buffon too, but the other thing is that they were not involved in the scandal. There were gossips that Buffon was involved in illegal betting but they were never proved the same for Cannavaro, there were voices he somehow acted in a not sportive way when he moved from Inter to Juve but that was it. I' m not saying they are completely innocent coz I don't know, but I know they played amazingly well this WC and brought Italy to the win of the trophy. Is there anyone else that deserves to win those prizes? I think yes. It's Pirlo who was the director of the Italian team and all the important things were created by him and there are other non-Italians too coz I think a player should win those prizes if he plays very well during all the season even if he didn't win anything at the end or didn't play in any important final. But anyway, it seems those are the rules.

I agree with Juventina no one from the 2006 World Cup Italian squad was involved just because Buffon is on Juventus doesn't mean he was involved..

it is fair. the one who fixed the match was the club officials not the players.

I agree, if Zizou can win the award after he headbutted Marco then they should be eligible too.

well the players didn't have anything to do w/it, it was the directives, so yeah, it's cool if they get nominated.
