I was on the pill for a full month & I started the first pill of the next pack and an hour after I took that one I had sex. We used spermicide also and he did not finish inside of me. Is there a big chance that I may be pregnant? I don't trust the pill even though it's supposed to be like 99. something effective...and I'm afraid that because I started my pills during a weird time of the month, not during my period because that's when my dr. told me to that I may be even more at risk.

Don't stress! If you did not miss a day of taking your pill, plus used extra precautions, you sound pretty safe to me.
The pills that you take during your period are just sugar pills. If you take a "regular" pill during your period, you will stop bleeding.
Stay ontrack with your pills. Start them when you are suppose to, and don't miss a day. If you don't trust the pill, continue to use extra precautions, or check out other means of birth control. I don't think anything is 100%.

When I went on the pill they told me not to have sex for two months. Like any drugs it needs to get into your system and you need to not have any allergic reactions to it! Spermicide is less effective than the pill though. A condom would have been the best choice. Also you should always do EXACTLY what your doctor tells you to do...start the pills when he/she said to! If you didn't do that and since you didn't take the pill for two months...the effectiveness is even less than the 99%. You should perhaps thinking of going to get the day after pill...just as a back up plan. The day after pill can be taken up to 4 days after the sexual encounter! Hope this helps.

Cheers, Amanda

There is a possibility because like you said pills don't stop you from getting pregnant 100%. You should have started your pills on the 1st of the month. It's okay to have sex after you start the pill even if it was an hour after that one of the next pack. as long as you were taking them correctly then you have nothing to worry about but yea there is a big chance that you could be pregnant.

Usually you start the pill the first Sunday after your period starts. I've been on it for about 16 years (OMG, has it really been that long!?)...been off a few times and every time I restarted it was the first Sunday after a period. I'm not sure how it works if it's started at a different time of the month than that. If taken correctly (same time every day) it is highly effective and you are most likely fine if you have been taking it as prescribed.

No contraceptive is 100% effective so you have to be extra careful. If you're worried, when the time is right take a pregnancy test & take it from there.
