i presume you mean Sea miles,they are bigger
why not look at an Atlas and you can see exactly

the distance depends entirely on the location on both sides you want to measure from,

but you never mentioned from where in the USA to where in Germany
Both places are very big,and different shapes

When we flew from Chicago to Frankfurt, I *think* the trip display on the plane said between 7000 and 8000...? But it was the middle of the night and I was trying to sleep, so I could be wrong.

about 6000 from NYC to Frankfurt.
your flight? about 10 hrs give or take an hour!
12 hrs flight to L.A. it goes a more northern route .
