Every time I go visit I have to hear,"You're rich,you make more than we do.....blablabla.
It's like they think we grow money trees in our yards or something.

You have a computer. You probably have a decent home, a car, fridge, dishwaser, washing machine, food mixer, TV, HIFI, CD player, more than one pair of shoes, several pairs of jeans, shirts. There are a lot of people around the world, including in Latin America who do not have those things. They think you are rich because you are.

It's not that. You've been misinformed. People in Latin American think people in the States make more money for the simple reason that they do. Even the poorest person in the States is much better off than a poor person in Latin America. Not to generalize though, but it is usually the case.

Well in Latin America they don't have it as easy children of the age 4-12 have to work work and work. No school for most of them I know oyu think that's great but they are partying they are selling stuff in the street working 24/7 maybe that's why, but all you ahve to do is tetll them I'm not rich, my parents are hard workers and in US it's easier like that that's all

If you're visiting Latin America, you're going to be richer than the vast majority of people you meet there. How often do you see representative (not upper-crust) tourist groups from Peru or Paraguay wandering the streets of Chicago or Seattle?

It is not limited to Latin countries. It is also believed in South Asia. But we are rich. Majority of us, have running water, flushing toilet, when we pick up the phone there is a dial tone, when we switch the light- it turns on. these are the riches that majority of us are blessed. it is great to live in USA.

Probably because they're dirt poor, or because they simply believe they are.
