i mean it depends on the person. i have plenty of friends in band. also if you do band all through high school you'll get a scholarship so if getting a free ride to college is nerdy then so be it. they'll be laughing all the way there and all the way out, debt free.

Umm I was in marching band all through Jr. High, and Highschool. Ive had my freinds tell me it was nerdy. But, I really enjoyed it. I had alot of fun. And the music was wonderful. I would like to go back to school, just so I can do it again!! I dont care what people think, I know I dont look sexy in those funky looking uniforms, with a HUGE feather hat. But, hey, I loved every minute of being in the band.

Nope. There were both "nerdy" and "popular" kids in it at my high school. We had a good music program so it was cool to be in it. As long as you like it and you have fun then who the hell cares if other people think it's nerdy. They have self esteem and insecurity issues if they say someone or something else is nerdy.Trust me, in ten or twenty years you'll be remembering how much fun it was and that you're glad you were in it.

.. i do not understand.. for some human beings it is only how extraordinary the uniforms look. At my college they don't fairly imagine that marching band is nerdy.. they only do not evaluate it a recreation. i'm in band, yet not marching band.. My band director kept attempting to get me to affix yet I already do different events that very last the entire 3 hundred and sixty 5 days. surely.... in marching band, you should have means.. first to understand a thanks to play your device nicely, second to could memorize the music, third to could walk round inclusive of your device and memorize the steps even as nonetheless taking area in you device nicely and..yeah. Plus you compete in competitions hostile to different bands and at practice you may run and heat up and what not. At our college, marching band practice lasts from 9 am to 5 pm in the course of the summer season and it lasts later than our song/bypass u . s . practice for the period of faculty. i do not see how human beings do not imagine that's a recreation.. haha.. nicely yeah.. that probable did not answer your question.

Back in my day (which was long ago, lol) ... we picked on and called names to the kids whom were in the band. 'Band Nerds'..is putting it nicely, compared to what we said.
BUT, know that i'm older and have kids of my own... i bite my tongue. Well, some what.. i do! My son lives for his drums, he plays them at home ALL the time, he's also in his own band. And NOW he's in the school band. *cries* LOL His classmates know how good he is, so they've convinced them last year to join. So he did. Anyways, since this.. i cant say anything 'too bad' about the kids. I do make fun of him and his friends though! It's funny, and they actually laugh about it themselves, those uniforms NEVER fit right to the kids, and its funny. BUT, i cant call them 'nerds'. Their not nerds. Nerds are suppose to be smart geeky kids. Well... some of these kids arent the smartest knifes on the chopping block. So you definiately cant call them nerds or geeks! Clowns maybe.. but not nerds!

No, I think that anything that you want to do shouldn't be put on delay because you think that people would call you nerdy.

Not really, but then again I really liked that American pie movie and thought the band chick was kind of hot...that naughty little minx...sticking a flute in wonderful places.

Absolutely not. There is a study floating around that says knowing how to play a musical instrument makes you smarter.
