I need a new car seat because the one we have doesn't fit our car. I don't know what to do. I can't return the car seat, because we bought it too long ago. The funny is that the car seat fits forward facing, but not rear facing.

Did you try moving the front seat allllll the way forward? Sometimes people forget that. And you could try moving both seats forward and then putting it in the middle of the back seat.

You're probably having that problem because your seats are too shallow. i think all carseats made now are based on the same standards and would be the same size. Is your carseat the carrier kind or the kind that you can turn around when the kid gets older? Anyway, there are some thrift stores that allow you to make trades. If the carseat is brand new you could probably get an older style and a few clothes out of the deal. try a thrift store that is only for baby stuff. You'd probably have more luck.

Have you tried placing the car seat in the middle of the back seat? sometimes it won't fit behind the driver or passenger, but it will in the middle.

The answer they gave about w.i.c is correct please call and see if your w.i.c office has car seat inspections (or your highway patrol office) because they will professionally install your carseat and it'f free if they feel that your carseat is not the right one then usually they will trade you or just give you one and no worries the ones they give out are current dated and brand new. They usually ask for a $25 donation but if you don't have it it's free. Don't feel bad carseats are tough.
Also Wal*Mart takes anything back thats not electronic usually.

have you tried moving your seat forward to see if it will fit and if doesn't then I suggest that you just go buy a new car seat.
