Because often there is no chance for actual change in their lives -or it seems that way. So they feel trapped and grasp at any distraction/outlet.

Nothing better then a bit of mental stimuli to get the juices flowing!!! However, this does not affect any real action, it simply enhances it!!!

Because people love instantaneous feedback. Real improvements to our lives often require work with feedback that doesnt come for weeks or months, if ever, such as sending out a resume. Bleh.

It's the idea of satisfying one's selfish pleasures. However, this is a way to trap oneself into sin. You feel farther away from God as you continue to "satisfy" yourself, which is never satisfied as you continue to drift further into lust.
