No, They do NOT go through the Firewall. They run from the Master switch in the drivers door, through the rubber boot between the dorr and the body, then into the Loom behind the instrument panel to the passenger side of the explorer where they then enter the rubber boot and go to the Passenger door.
The rear doors wires run down low under the plates on the body under the doors, If you have a 4 door, but sounds like you have the 2 door model.
THERE IS NO relay in a 1994 Explorer Power door lock system. That is BOGUS information !
I have the Schematic right here in front of me..

the wires run through the rubber tube in the door jamb, itnto the kickpanel, under the dash, into the other kick panel, into the rubber tube and to the switch, oh it might connect into a module between the 2 also. if the wiring is actually bad the first place to check is the rubber tube in the door jambs, wires break at this point all the time due to opening and closing of the door.

When you open you door look at where the hinges are. You'll see and accordion looking rubber hose that goes from the door to through the beginning of the front fender. Follow that into the engine compartment and you'll see where the wires go..... The wires from the door are in that rubber hose. How do you know that something is wrong with the wires. What are the symptoms?

They only work with the door closed so that you can't lock your keys in your car or lock accidentally. Most cars with power locks work this way. I don't know if yours do it, but most won't lock with the doors open, usually the lock pops right back up if you try to do it manually. Its for your own protection :)
