The Sound Of Silence,by Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel. The words of this beautiful song are very intriguing: saying words with-out speaking,..... no-one dares disturbs the sound of silence,... hello darkness my old friend I have come to talk to you again..... Very powerful lyrics, very expressive, the beauty of language.

'wish u were here' by Pink Floyd

my favourite part of the song is this bit :

how i wish, how i wish u were here
we're just 2 lost souls
swimming in a fish bowl
year after year
running over the same old ground
and how we've found
the same old fears
wish u were here

Pink Floyd's lyrics are always amazing, but I've loved this one since i was a kid, and i never get tired of listening to it.

as for a more modern song, i love Good Riddance (time of your life) by Green day. well, this song is actually over 10 years old now, but the band seem more popular now than they were back then.

another turning point
a fork stuck in the road
time grabs u by the wrist
directs u where to go
so make the best of this test
and don't ask why
it's not a question
but a lesson learned in time

it's something unpredictable
but in the end it's right
i hope u had the time of your life
